We were set to uncover the most delicious Costa Rican eats in San Jose, and what better way than with your own local foodie guide? We were taken around the busiest, non-touristy parts of San Jose by Lorena for a few hours of tasty eats. First stop was a famous Soda that was popular with locals. Soda is the term for a cafeteria-like, family run food business serving up ceviche and burgers. We tried some ceviche with corn torillas on the side. The fish had a delicate and citrusy flavor that screamed out fresh!
We continued through the market to taste exotic fruits, then learned about the different types of coffee and coffee regions in Costa Rica (Costa Rica is a huge coffee bean exporter), tasted some tapioca snacks at another soda, and finally, tried ice cream at the most famous ice cream shop in San Jose, they have been running since 1901 with this one signature flavor only!
